Our main floor bathroom is FINALLY getting a facelift. Through the remodel this tiny space served as our only bathroom for a while and my dishwasher when the kitchen was torn apart. Now that the rest of the house is become more settled, it’s time to give the space some TLC. Our budget was about as small as the bathroom itself, so it was a challenge to make it pretty, functional, and affordable.
We demoed the trim, linoleum, vanity, and backsplash. We decided to keep the existing vanity and just replace the countertop/sink and gel stain the cabinet to look like a darker toned wood.
For the flooring, we wanted something super easy to install that would be 100% water proof and landed on this affordable LVT (LVP that looks like tile). I painted the walls “Ivory Lace” be Sherwin Williams and began to cut this panelling for a wall treatment that looks like shiplap.
I tried to gel stain the vanity without painting it a base color first, and (surprise 🙄) the orangey oak tone totally shone through. After painting it a base color I tried again with the same walnut gel stain and after the first coat it already looked much better!
We found this affordable vanity top and sink and installed it, then installed the panelling and painted it Natural Tan by Sherwin Williams. Added a few finishing touches and we had a whole new space!
I found this fun cheeky “Mona Lisa” art on Etsy and printed it at home and painted mod podge over it to look like a painting. It cracks me up every time I see it.
